Dartington Swimming Pool sadly closed in 2022 due to structural failure. However, we have a wonderful network of volunteers dedicated to re-envisaging a much improved pool that better serves our community of users.

Latest update 6 Nov 2024:

The planning application received 330 letters of support. Thank you!

The plans for future pool:

Consultation in 2019, 2020 and 2021 combined with our experience running the pool has shaped the designs for the future pool. It includes:

  • Warm water heated by an energy system using solar PV, and specialist air source heat pumps. This should allow for a constant water temperature of 27 degrees and could also potentially extent the season from April into October (see the energy hub page for more info).

  • To be longer, for people who like to do lengths

  • To be shallower at the shallow end, making it more usable for toddlers

  • To have a stepped entrance and accessible access

  • To have improved changing facilities and pavilion

Early estimations predict the pool will cost around £1m. Thanks to Section106  (money from local housing developments) and our fundraising we have already made some good progress but there is a long way to go and we need all the help we can find!

Can you help, we welcome volunteers to support us developing our Business Plan and Fundraising Strategy and a million other things. Message us on Facebook for more info.
