Rainwater from the roof is collected in a system that wraps around the building, with manhole covers along the way. Under each cover you can see the water level - it sits higher than the pipe where there's a problem. The final manhole, marked with a green X, sits before a long run heading to the river. We believe this final run is blocked or slow-draining.
A firm who came to look said it needs a two-person team, partly because the van has to park some distance from the manhole.
What we'd like done
- Clear the final run.
- Spend a little extra time inspecting and clearing the run before it.
Many of our manholes and drains are worn and may eventually need replacing - worth asking whether the contractor does this too. Cost to be confirmed.
