The fire exit on the stage side currently opens against an angled block wall onto sloping ground. We'd like to make it a safe, obvious escape route.
What's involved
- Knock down the angled block wall and rebuild it at a right angle, so the exit runs straight out.
- Make the ground good to create a clear ramp across the span (the existing slope may need removing).
- Move the spoil to another position on site.
- Hire a skip to take away the old blockwork.
- Replace the existing door with a new one (specification to be confirmed with our sound engineer), and re-fit the hardware and signage.
This is one of our higher-priority safety jobs. Costs are still to be confirmed, and we'd love to keep them down with volunteer labour and donated materials.
